Reclamation of gravel pits and quarries creates a post mining use for the land. It also creates a favorable tax base for the municipality that the mine is in. Some common examples of post mining land uses are: wildlife habitat, commercial & residential developement, returning land back to farm land & excavating ponds for wild life or residential purposes.
